About
Bowen Therapy

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowenwork is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that was developed by Thomas Bowen in the 1950s. It involves the use of precise, gentle moves on specific points on the body to stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. These moves are typically done with the fingers or thumbs and are applied using a light pressure.

The goal of Bowenwork is to improve the overall function of the body by addressing imbalances and restrictions in the connective tissue and muscle systems. This can help to relieve pain, improve mobility, and promote relaxation.

During a Bowenwork session, the practitioner will usually work on specific areas of the body, such as the back, neck, legs, or arms, and may also use specific techniques to address specific issues, such as injuries or chronic pain. The practitioner may also use a series of moves on different parts of the body to address the body as a whole.

Bowenwork sessions are done with the client fully clothed. The sessions are typically gentle and relaxing, and clients may feel a sense of warmth or tingling during the treatment.

Overall, Bowenwork is a holistic approach to bodywork that aims to support the body's natural healing processes and promote overall wellness. It is often used as an alternative or complement to other forms of bodywork and medical care.
